America’s Water Infrastructure Act Section 2018: Spill Notification and Access to Chemical Inventory Data
On October 23, 2018, America’s Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA) was signed into law. Section 2018 of AWIA amended the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA). The fact sheet below provides an overview of these amendments to EPCRA, which require that:
- Community water systems receive prompt notification of releases that are reportable under EPCRA, section 304.
- Community water systems are given access to hazardous chemical inventory data that is reported under EPCRA, section 312.
